We  Are More is an inclusive series for Southwest Asian and North African  (SWANA) and SWANA diaspora writers, curated and edited by Michelle  Zamanian, co-edited by Leila Mansouri, and read and assistant edited by  Marianne Manzler. Our open reading period will begin on March 15, 2024  and will continue until April 30, 2024. Submissions will be received  through Submittable

We  consider creative nonfiction, graphic essays, fiction, poetry, and  hybrid work by SWANA writers on a wide variety of subject matter. We are  interested in work that disrupts negative media stereotypes and pulls  away from repetitive narratives. We are especially interested in stories  and pieces that celebrate our experiences, find meaning in being who we  are, and challenge the status quo.

Prose  submissions should be between 1,500-3,000 words, and poetry submissions  should include three to five poems, up to twelve pages. We can only  consider work that has not been previously published (this includes  personal blogs and social media).

Please email michelle@therumpus.net with any questions or inquiries.

We use Submittable to accept and review our submissions.
